Actor Neil Patrick Harris is set to add author to his resume after announcing plans to pen his memoir.

The How I Met Your Mother star is teaming up with bosses at publishing house Crown Archetype to release the novel in 2014, according to TheWrap.com.

And the ever-funny father of one-year-old twins has revealed he was inspired to put pen to paper after reading actress Tina Fey's new book.

He jokes, "I'm excited to be writing a book of the observations and stories of my life. I read with great fondness Tina Fey's Bossypants, so my plan is just to reprint those exact stories but change the names to people that I knew. What editor would take issue with that?"
