Nathan Sykes retained by The Wanted if surgery went wrong

The Wanted star Nathan Sykes would have stayed with the band as a piano player if doctors had been unable to save his voice during recent throat surgery.

The pop star underwent surgery to repair a haemorrhaging vocal cord in April (13) and medics told him he may never sing again if the operation failed to fix the problem.

Sykes was sure his career would have been over if the procedure had been unsuccessful, but his bandmates planned to keep him in the line-up even if he could no longer join in on vocals.

Tom Parker tells Britain's Daily Star, "He'd still be in the band whether he could sing or not. Look at him and his pretty little face. He'd still be on stage and look great and play piano."

The surgery appears to have been successful and Sykes made his return to the stage with the band at the Summertime Ball concert in London earlier this month (Jun13).
