Muse and U2 top Q Awards winners
Rock veterans Muse and U2 had reason to celebrate on Wednesday (02Nov16) after landing big wins at the 2016 Q Awards.
Matt Bellamy's band was named Best Act in the World Today, triumphing over U2, Coldplay, The 1975, and Biffy Clyro, while the Irish musicians emerged victorious at the London ceremony as Best Live Act.
James Bay claimed Best Solo Artist, and Jack Garratt clinched Best
Breakthrough Act, while Best Album and Best Track went to The 1975
for I Like It When You Sleep... and Bastille for Good Grief,
respectively.
PJ Harvey won Best Video for The Community Of Hope, and MIA was
applauded with the Innovation in Sound award.
Meanwhile, Meat Loaf was honored with the Hero prize, U2 guitarist
The Edge landed the Gibson Les Paul Award, Blondie was recognized
for Outstanding Contribution to Music, and Madness were inducted
into the Q Hall of Fame.
Guests at the annual bash included former Spice Girls star Melanie
Chisholm, Blondie's Debbie Harry, The Smiths' Johnny Marr, and
singer Carl Barat.
