Mollie King donated five cases of clothes to Sandy victims
Mollie King was so moved by the carnage wreaked by superstorm Sandy last year (12), the British singer flew to New York with five suitcases full of clothes to donate to victims of the tragedy.
Thousands were left homeless or without power for days when heavy winds and rain battered the East Coast and flooded areas of New York in October (12).
The Saturdays star King was so moved by film footage of the
devastation, she packed five suitcases with her unwanted clothing
and boarded a flight to the Big Apple.
However, she was hit with a huge bill from airline bosses for
breaching the maximum baggage allowance.
She tells We Love Pop magazine, "Everyone took about three or four
cases and I took five. I got a huge fine. I gave everything I
didn't wear to the Hurricane Sandy appeal in New York, which meant
I could fill the empty cases with new stuff on my return! Everyone
wins!"
