Model Bello Sanchez injured in car accident
America'S Next Top Model contestant Bello Sanchez is recovering after narrowly escaping death in a horrific car crash in Los Angeles.
The model, who is featured on the current and final season of Tyra Banks' hit reality competition, fell asleep at the wheel of his car on 19 October (15) and crashed in La Crescenta.
The vehicle was totalled in the accident, while Sanchez was saved
from near-certain death thanks to his car's airbags.
A statement released by his representative to People.com reads:
"The car was totaled and he was found lying unconscious on the
ground next to the driver's door after attempting to flee from the
smoking car. Doctors say that, had the airbags not deployed, the
accident would have been fatal. Sanchez's head would have burst
through the windshield."
Sanchez, 26, is struggling with facial abrasions and a shoulder
injury, and has been diagnosed with "Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
and anterograde amnesia" - a condition that causes an inability to
create new memories.
The rep adds, "He's expected to make a full recovery."
The model has since launched a crowdfunding campaign online in a
bid to raise $30,000 to help cover his medical costs.
