Missy Elliot & Timbaland part of posthumous Aaliyah album
Missy Elliot and her hitmaker pal Timbaland are to feature on a planned new album of unreleased Aaliyah songs.
The late singer's cousin Jomo Hankerson has confirmed that he and his father Barry, who run Blackground Records, are working on tracks the tragic R&B star recorded before her plane crash death in 2001.
He tells Billboard.com, "We really felt like it was time. There's a
real new generation that doesn't know her necessarily, and we
wanted to continue her musical legacy with this new generation.
"Timbaland will be involved with this project. One of the records
that we had that was never released was a Missy record that we
obviously are going to be refreshing."
The news comes less than a week after Drake unveiled a new track
featuring Aaliyah. The rapper debuted Enough Said online on Sunday
(05Aug12) hours before he performed the duet onstage at his Ovo
festival in Canada.
Drake will co-produce Blackground's new Aaliyah album.
