Miranda Lambert hits back at online trolls
Miranda Lambert has fired back at online trolls who criticized her red carpet appearance with new beau Anderson East at the Country Music Association Awards.
The Mama's Broken Heart singer hit the red carpet for the annual CMA ceremony in Nashville, Tennessee on Wednesday (02Nov16) with her boyfriend and shared a picture on Instagram of their look.
She returned to the site on Thursday (03Nov16) and wrote a lengthy
post condemning those who have judged them and written negative
comments about their appearance and relationship under the
snap.
“Last night I was all dolled up and ‘out on the town’ with my sweet
man,” she wrote. “I was excited about the night and posted a
picture. Just now when I looked I realized so many comments were
judgmental and negative.
"Cowardly people hiding behind a keyboard or a cell phone writing
their useless comments about our eyes and clothes and body
language. What a bunch of bull. Thank y'all for reminding me why I
read books, write songs, and spend most of my time with animals and
people I trust and love."
She also shared a quote from Maya Angelou in which she said words
are "things" which hold power that can get under the skin of
others.
"You must be careful, careful about calling people out of their
names, using racial pejoratives and sexual pejoratives and all that
ignorance. Don’t do that," the quote continued.
Miranda, 32, posted the long rant under a photo of her riding her
horse on a farm in Tennessee with her hair in a ponytail through a
baseball cap, no make-up and wearing yoga pants.
"Not selling a better version of myself to anyone or trying to look
cool like we all do all the time," she wrote, explaining why she
posted the candid snap.
She has been dating Anderson since last year (15). The singer was
previously married to Blake Shelton for four years.
