Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears deemed too racy for French TV
Television bosses in France have deemed pop stars Miley Cyrus and Britney Spears too racy for the small screen, suggesting broadcasters should stop playing the artists' music videos in the daytime.
Executives at the French media regulator CSA have argued that some channels in the country were playing Cyrus' Wrecking Ball and Spears' Work B**ch videos during the day without any parental guidance warnings preceding the clips.
In a statement released by CSA bosses on Thursday (09Jan14), they
brand Cyrus riding nude on a giant ball "too sexually explicit",
while Spears, who dons a whip and bondage gear in her video, shows
"a sadomachistic universe representing women in a way that risks
shocking many viewers".
The watchdog executives are calling for French channels to air the
content after 10pm, as the footage is only appropriate for
adults.
