Michelle Williams delayed Marilyn filming for weight gain

Michelle Williams asked movie bosses to postpone the start of filming on My Week With Marilyn so she could gain some weight and prepare properly for the title role.

The actress plays late Hollywood legend Marilyn Monroe in the critically-acclaimed film and she has now revealed she asked for the start to be pushed back so she could bulk up to portray the curvy star.

She tells Hollyscoop, "I took as much prep (preparation) time as I could and I asked the movie to push (back) a little bit to give me as much time as possible... I gained a little weight."

She adds, "I feel like I grew up on this movie. I feel like it's the most challenging piece of work I've taken on and I feel like I had to grow up in order to do it."
