Michelle Dockery named Oxfam ambassador
British actress Michelle Dockery has become the first Humanitarian Ambassador for Oxfam.
The Downton Abbey star will raise money and awareness of the charity's work helping vulnerable people in conflict and disaster areas worldwide.
The actress previously visited Syrian refugees with the charity
last year (13) and auctioned off a gown she wore to the Emmy Awards
in May (14) to raise money for the organization.
Oxfam's chief executive Mark Goldring says, "Michelle's
contribution to helping raise vital funds for Syrian refugees and
awareness of their situation over the last year has been
unwavering. She is passionate, empathetic and eager to learn more
about how we work to support us in the best way she can... We are
thrilled to announce Michelle as our first ever Humanitarian
Ambassador. It is an important role that will undoubtedly help us
achieve our ultimate goal of keeping people and hope alive in times
they need it most."
