Michael Buble gushes about fatherhood
Canadian singer Michael Buble has opened up about life as a first-time father, insisting becoming a parent is the "greatest thing that could ever happen".
The Beautiful Day crooner's wife, Luisana, gave birth to son Noah on 27 August (13) and the star admits he adores the newborn.
In his first TV interview since the tot's birth, he tells Canadian
talk show The Social, "It's been what everybody says it would be.
It's the greatest thing that could ever happen. You can't explain
it until it happens - it's like telling somebody what water feels
like before they've ever swam in it."
However, Buble confesses he didn't immediately experience an
"overwhelming feeling of love" for his boy until the realisation of
becoming a dad fully sunk on the night after his birth.
He explains, "I'm being honest with you. I'd heard all of these
stories about how this moment (birth) was life-changing, but it
wasn't like that for me. I was nervous for my wife, and I was happy
that he was healthy... but that day, it was like meeting a
stranger. I think that next night, it really clicked. I was looking
at him, and all of a sudden, I got it."
The star has been entertaining the baby with lullabies and
children's favourites around the clock and reveals he has even
perfected the smelliest of daddy duties.
He says, "I've become a master at changing poopy diapers. And I can
swaddle. I enjoy being swaddled myself!
"I sing to him all day and all night. When he's crying with
somebody else and I hold him and I sing to him, he just stops. It's
really cool. The songs I'm singing are not my hits - that's for
sure. My number one go-to right now is Down by the Bay."
