Mel B rendered speechless by Adele's Spice Girls cover
Mel B was left "speechless" when she heard Adele's Spice Girls cover.
The 41-year-old singer, full name Melanie Brown, found fame as one fifth of the hit girl group. During a recent concert as part of her Adele Live 2016 tour, Adele belted out an impromptu rendition of the band's 1997 hit Spice Up Your Life. Footage of Adele singing the track quickly went viral and one person to catch sight of it was Mel - who was rendered speechless by the fact their song had been covered by arguably the world's most famous star.
"I'm very kind of flattered," Mel told reporters during a
conference call to promote NBC's America's Got Talent on Monday
(06Jun16). "I think all of us are. It's great. It leaves me
speechless a little bit."
It's the second time that Adele has showcased her love for the
Spice Girls. She previously gave their debut single Wannabe a go
during her appearance on James Corden's Carpool Karaoke segment
back in January (16).
"I love Adele. I love the fact that she kind of tips her hat off to
us and gives us props," Mel continued. "I mean who isn't a fan of
Adele? So, to know that she's a fan of the Spice Girls is
definitely one for the books."
Mel isn't the only member of the group to wax lyrical about Adele's
references to them, with Victoria Beckham previously calling the
singer's Carpool Karaoke performance "genius".
The Spice Girls mark the 20th anniversary of Wannabe this year
(16), and rumors are rife that they will be reuniting to celebrate
the momentous occasion.
It had been reported that Victoria and Mel C, a.k.a Melanie
Chisholm, had proved to be stumbling blocks in arranging a reunion,
and Adele apparently offered her services if the group need a
replacement at any point.
Asked what she thought about the Hello singer joining the Spice
Girls during an interview on British television show Lorraine last
month (May16), Mel B laughed: "Oh Adele, that would be good! I love
her! We all love her!"
