Meghan Trainor has signed on to pay tribute to Canadian country star Shania Twain at the upcoming 2016 CMT Artists of the Year.

The pop singer, who performed a country version of her All About That Bass hit with Miranda Lambert at the CMA Awards in 2014, will be among the stars paying homage to this year's Artist of a Lifetime honoree during CMT's annual gala.

She will join Jill Scott and CMT Breakout Award recipient Kelsea Ballerini in belting out Shania's signature hits.

Twain will make history at the ceremony when she becomes the first female to pick up the Artist of a Lifetime award. The singer will follow in the footsteps of country music icons like Kenny Rogers and Merle Haggard.

Meanwhile, Little Big Town's Karen Fairchild has also been announced as a performer - she will team up with Artist of the Year Luke Bryan for a song. Little Big Town will present Bryan with his award during the upcoming show at Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center in Tennessee.

Carrie Underwood, Chris Stapleton, Florida Georgia Line, and Thomas Rhett will also be saluted at the event.
