Meghan Trainor still in awe at Backstreet Boys duet
Meghan Trainor has fulfilled a childhood dream by singing a duet with her former crush Brian Littrell and his Backstreet Boys bandmates.
The 22-year-old joined the boyband onstage during variety show Greatest Hits on Thursday (07Jul16), when they performed their 1999 hit I Want It That Way.
Wearing matching white blazers, AJ McLean, Howie Dorough, Nick
Carter, Kevin Richardson, and Brian Littrell took turns in
serenading the All About That Bass hitmaker.
Meghan admitted backstage before the duet that she was nervous, as
she idolised the boyband while growing up.
"My first band that I loved was the Backstreet Boys," she
explained.
"My pop star crush was Brian. I was gonna marry him and my mom was
gonna marry him. That was our husband. The day he got married, I
remember we were like, 'Nooo!'" she joked.
Despite her crush, Meghan managed to keep her nerves in check, and
was full of praise for her childhood idols. "Singing with the
Backstreet Boys is definitely a bucket-list moment," she said.
Nick has since applauded Meghan for her career success, gushing,
"She's so talented. Number one, a great writer, fantastic singer,
great voice and we realized, she's a fan of ours as well, which
blows us away."
The Backstreet Boys have since shared a behind-the-scenes video
from the TV taping, in which they cheer for Meghan after their
performance and make the singer an offer she might find hard to
refuse.
"Meghan, thank you so much for being a part of this amazing
experience for us," AJ says in the clip. "We're such huge fans. And
hopefully, maybe a duet? BSB and Meghan Trainor? Make it
happen!"
