Marla Sokoloff's daughter undergoes surgery
Actress Marla Sokoloff's baby daughter has undergone lung surgery after she was born with a congenital disorder.
The former The Practise star reveals her little girl, Elliotte Anne, was diagnosed with congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation upon her birth in February (12), and she was required to have an operation to fix the potentially life-threatening condition within the first six months of her life.
The tot was admitted to Los Angeles Cedars-Sinai Medical Center on
11 July (12) and sailed through the surgery, and she was discharged
within a few days.
However, her road to recovery hit a bump on 23 July (12) when she
experienced breathing issues and was taken back to hospital.
Elliotte was found to be suffering from a minor virus and she was
kept under observation for 48 hours before returning home.
Sokoloff, who is married to composer Alec Puro, reveals the medical
emergencies didn't faze her daughter and she is astounded by her
strength.
In her baby blog for People.com, she writes, "Babies truly are
resilient. If you saw Elliotte just days after her operation, you
would have been amazed. It was absolutely remarkable. I swear it
was way harder for my husband and me to recover from the whole
experience!"
Little Elliotte is now fighting fit and Sokoloff insists the health
crisis has brought her family closer together: "This has far and
away been the hardest thing I have ever gone through and to be
completely honest - I'm still recovering. It has changed every part
of my being and I'm not sure I will ever be the same again.
"I will forever look at my daughter and my husband differently. We
went through the trenches together and our little family unit is
now stronger than ever. I feel as if we can get through anything as
long as we have each other."
