Mark Salling sends condolences to grieving Becca Tobin

Actor Mark Salling has offered his condolences to his Glee co-star Becca Tobin after her boyfriend was found dead in a hotel room in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania last week (ends11Jul14).

Tobin, who plays cheerleader Kitty Wilde in the hit TV series, has yet to break her silence about the passing of nightclub owner Matt Bendik, whose body was discovered by a hotel maid last Thursday (10Jul14), but Salling has now expressed his sympathy for the actress.

He tells People.com, "Losing someone that close - I've honestly never been through anything like that, so the most someone like myself can do is offer my condolences. That's a tough one."

Salling admits the sudden death took him back to this time last year (Jul13), when the Glee cast and crew were plunged into despair following the death of actor Cory Monteith.

He says, "Our prayers are with you (Tobin) and with what we went through a year ago with Cory - it's still fresh wounds, and I can't help but associate that feeling with what we went through. But she's such a strong girl, so she'll be all right."

Police are still investigating the death of 35-year-old Bendik, but reports suggest there was no visible evidence of drug use or suicide.
