Marilyn Manson pulls Alt-Fest date amid cancellation rumors
The future of the first Alt-Fest remains a mystery following Marilyn Manson's announcement the show has been canceled.
The festival's official website is still counting down the days to the event, which is scheduled to begin on 15 August (14), and there is no official word from promoters that the three-day event in Northamptonshire, England has been called off, but Manson has updated his online schedule, scrawling "canceled" across his Alt-Fest date.
Rockers Cradle of Filth have also reported the festival is off, and
promoter Rob Ferguson, who represents many of the acts set to
perform, including co-headliners Fields Of The Nephilim, has
tweeted, "Well, what a surprise. Alt-Fest is no more. I feel
extremely sorry for all those who will undoubtedly lose money. Bad
times."
The inaugural event was also set to feature performances from
Killing Joke, Dead Kennedys, Gary Numan and The Cult, whose set was
to be their only U.K. date of 2014.
The Alt-Fest event was powered by a Kickstarter.com crowdfunding
campaign, during which music fans donated over $102,000 to help
promoters stage the show.
