Mariah Carey suffered a major wardrobe malfunction on live TV on Friday morning (24May13) after her dress popped open as she prepared to perform on a breakfast show.
The hitmaker donned a sequin Versace frock for her appearance on Good Morning America as part of the programme's summer concert series in Central Park, but the zipper to her form-fitting gown split down Mariah Carey's back as she spoke with anchor Lara Spencer, prompting two stylists to run on stage to repair the torn seam.
She said, "Oh shoot, now the back of my dress just popped. It popped. I love you Donatella (Versace), but it popped darling. Wait a minute, hold on. Is it gonna fall?"
The embarrassed singer, who cupped her breasts to preserve her modesty as her assistants worked to fix the problem, then cracked a joke about the incident, which she knew would soon become a viral sensation, saying, "What should we call this, the Central Park saga? It seems like a YouTube moment."
Producers cut to a quick commercial break, and when the show returned Mariah Carey broke into her classic We Belong Together, but the entertainer's gig was riddled with more problems - she arrived late on stage after trying to squeeze in a quick costume change, forcing the reporters to make minor small talk, and when she did step out for an interview, she refused to answer questions, saying, "I need to catch my breath, please talk."
Afterwards, Mariah Carey introduced special guest Miguel for a rendition of their collaboration #beautiful, but she accidentally cursed as she nearly lost her balance in her towering shoes, saying: "Oh, s**t. You didn't hear that!"
