Amanda Bynes released after arrest
Amanda Bynes has been released on her own recognisance after she was arrested in New York City on Thursday (23May13).
The Hairspray star was taken into custody in Manhattan for unlawful possession of marijuana possession, attempted tampering with physical evidence and reckless endangerment after throwing a bong out her apartment window during a police raid following reports from her doorman that Amanda Bynes was smoking pot in the lobby of the building.
The 27 year old was taken to Roosevelt Hospital for a psychiatric
evaluation before she was booked at a local police precinct, and on
Friday morning (24May13) a dishevelled Amanda Bynes was marched
into court, where she was formally arraigned on all three counts,
while wearing in a blonde wig and sweatpants.
Appearing before the judge, the actress claimed the bong was just a
"vase", and she was issued a stern warning that if she missed her
next court date in July (13), a warrant would be issued for her
arrest, according to TMZ.com.
Amanda Bynes' latest incident comes just two days after editors at
tabloid In Touch published damning photos of the star's pad during
an all-night party.
One of the photographers who took the shots of the actress posing
on a bare mattress and in her cluttered bathroom, told the
publication, "Weed was everywhere. On the bed, all over the
floor."
Amanda Bynes recently dismissed reports suggesting she has a drug
habit, telling In Touch, "I don't smoke pot".
The embattled actress has threatened to sue the editors of the
tabloid for printing the pictures, accusing them of doctoring the
images.
The fallen star has come under growing scrutiny in recent months
due to her bizarre antics, a series of traffic violations and odd
messages and pictures posted on her social networking pages.
