Mariah Carey: 'I will not be having kids with James Packer'
Mariah Carey is adamant she will not be having children with her new fiancee James Packer.
The pop superstar, who has twins from her previous marriage to Nick Cannon, announced her engagement to the Australian businessman last month (Jan16) after a whirlwind romance of less than a year.
Mariah, 46, has now revealed she is not planning to expand her
family with James, who has three children from his marriage to
Erica Baxter, because she would not want her son and daughter,
Moroccan and Monroe, to feel pushed aside.
"No, those are my two babies and I think they will be too
jealous... They get upset when I pat my dog," she tells The Lowdown
with Diana Madison.
Mariah goes on to reveal the couple will be building a life
together in the US instead of settling in James' native
Australia.
"No, I don't think that's (moving to Australia) in his plans, and
I'm in America," she adds.
James proposed to Mariah last month (Jan16) in a New York
restaurant, but the singer recently revealed she has yet to tell
the twins the news because she is waiting for the right moment to
talk to them.
"I haven't talked to them about it completely because they are so
young so they don't really understand things yet so you have to go
slowly and explain things and always make sure they know that this
is only going to be good for them," she told E! News.
"Their lives are not going to change. For me, as long as we are
together and they have a great relationship with their dad, then
that's great. It's good. And they are great."
Mariah also explains she is getting on well with Nick since their
split and they are determined to be good parents to the kids: "I
think we are trying our best. I really do. I know I am trying my
best and I think he (Nick) is too. I know they love being with him
and it's nice and I will always say positive things about him to
the kids."
Mariah and Nick were together from 2008 until 2014.
