Mariah Carey confirms Las Vegas residency
Mariah Carey has signed a deal for a lucrative Las Vegas residency.
The Hero hitmaker has confirmed reports she is following in the footsteps of Sir Elton John, Rod Stewart and Celine Dion by signing a multi-million dollar deal to perform her greatest hits at Caesars Palace in Sin City.
The pop superstar tells chat show Ellen DeGeneres, "I'm going to do
my first ever residency in Vegas at Caesars. This is a special
event for me. And again, I have to hope that the fans will enjoy
this cause I'm gonna be performing, which was kind of inspired by
my album Number 1's, and this is now the updated version with 18 of
them. Hopefully other people will enjoy this. I've never done this
before."
During the TV show, which airs on Thursday (15Jan15), Carey was
seen surprising fans at the Las Vegas resort by dressing up as a
housekeeper and handing them all tickets to her show.
Carey has yet to announce the start date of the residency, or how
long her stay will last.
Dion had to axe her own shows at Caesars Palace last year (14) to
care for her husband as he recovered from cancer.
