Mariah Carey: 'American Idol was the worst experience of my life'
Mariah Carey has confessed the time she spent as a judge on TV talent show American Idol was "the worst experience of my life".
The Touch My Body hitmaker served on a panel alongside country singer Keith Urban, producer/musician Randy Jackson and rapper Nicki Minaj in 2013, and insists she won't be returning for the show's final season next year (16).
Her stint on the programme was marred by a much-publicised feud
between herself and Minaj, while reports swirled around the
production about her diva behaviour and tardiness.
Asked if she would consider returning to Idol for one final goodbye
on Thursday (28May15), Carey told Australian radio hosts Kyle and
Jackie O, "Hell no. That was the worst experience of my life. I'm
not going to get into what it was. Let's just say I don’t think
they had any intentions for us having a good experience through
that show.
"Pitting two females against each other wasn't cool. It should have
been about the contestants instead of about some non-existent feud
that turned into even more ridiculousness. I would never be
involved in it again."
She added, "It's so boring. It's so fake... When I say it's fake, I
have to make up things to say to people."
Carey and Minaj left the show after just one season, while Urban
stayed and joined Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick, Jr. The trio
have been together ever since and will return to the judges' table
for the final season next year (16).
