Macklemore crashes wedding with his mom

Macklemore crashed a wedding in Washington D.C. after his mom urged him to join the party unannounced.

The 32-year-old rapper was visiting the capital with his mother Julie Schott and on Saturday (14May16) they stumbled upon nuptials at a local hotel.

Macklemore documented the events on Snapchat, and in one video, he happily poses with wedding guests during the reception, and added a caption which read: "When your mom tells you to crash the wedding." He shared another shot of Julie walking by the party, writing, "When your mom is really trying to crash the wedding", along with a laughing emoji.

At one point, his 2013 track with Ryan Lewis, Thrift Shop, even played at the bash and he danced to the hit along with fellow partygoers.

The wedding gatecrash was the second unexpected moment he had on Saturday - earlier in the day he also posted a video on Snapchat of him walking behind a student wearing a graduation gown and cap while singing, "Congratulations you graduated".

The star was in Washington D.C. to meet with President Barack Obama at the White House, where he chatted with the leader about opioids for his new MTV documentary.

Macklemore, who checked in to rehab in 2008, was reminded of his constant battle to stay clean following a 2014 relapse. With his new film, he hopes to raise awareness about the opioid addiction epidemic that affects two million Americans.

The rapper spoke candidly to Obama about his own drug abuse issues.
