M.I.A. threatens to give away new album
Outspoken rapper M.I.A. has threatened to give fans her new album for free amid a bust-up with her record label bosses.
The Paper Planes hitmaker's fourth record Matangi is due for release later this year (13), but she has accused chiefs at Interscope of delaying the release.
The British star has become so frustrated, she has now threatened
to leak Matangi online so her fans get it for free instead of
waiting for Interscope executives to give it the go-ahead.
In a series of posts on Twitter.com, M.I.A. writes, "Who would stop
Matangi from coming out? If Interscope takes longer I can always
leak this next week and make a new one by the time they are
ready."
The controversial rapper has already expressed her annoyance with
the way her new disc has been handled by Interscope bosses,
alleging it was originally due for release last year (12). Earlier
this year (13), she said, "It's not easy, it's not easy. I keep
finishing it and handing it in, finishing it and handing it
in."
