Lindsay Lohan defends new accent as a 'mixture of languages'
Lindsay Lohan's bizarre new accent is a mixture of the languages she speaks or is trying to learn.
The 30-year-old actress debuted her new way of speaking as she was caught on tape at the opening of her new nightclub in Athens, Greece, last month (Oct16).
After the footage emerged on Tuesday (01Nov16), fans were quick to
comment on Lindsay's speech, which appeared to have notes of
Australian, French, Turkish and Saudi Arabian in it.
Now the Mean Girls star has addressed the furor, telling the
DailyMail.com "Je ne sais pas" (French for "I don't know), when
asked why her accent has changed so much since childhood.
"It's a mixture of most of the languages I can understand or am
trying to learn," she added to the outlet. "I've been learning
different languages since I was a child. I'm fluent in English and
French can understand Russian and am learning Turkish, Italian and
Arabic."
Taking the jokes about her accent in good humor, Lindsay told the
website she is keen for her fans to come up with a name for the way
she speaks, laughing: "We should let the people decide!"
Lindsay also insisted she wasn't shocked by the amount of attention
her accent has attracted.
"Nothing really shocks me these days," she sighed. "I moved to
London four years ago and the taxes seem to be getting higher."
The video of Lindsay at her club opening saw the redheaded beauty
discuss the nature of her relationship with business partner Dennis
Papageorgi.
"I said maybe there is something for me to do more here so I have a
reason to come back," she says in the footage. "My first time
coming to Athens with Dennis, my friend, and that's all he is my
friend and business partner! But his mother became a very close
person to me and his sister as well... When I went through
hardships with my ex I really found 'good family' in these people
from Greece."
