Lindsay Lohan cancels Europe trip on Oprah Winfrey's advice
Lindsay Lohan has cancelled a planned trip to Europe after Oprah Winfrey warned she would be tempted back into drinking during a sun-soaked break in Italy.
The troubled actress, who recently completed a 90-day stint in rehab, was due to fly to Italy to promote her film The Canyons at the upcoming Venice Film Festival later this month (Aug13).
However, Winfrey claims the Mean Girls star has now decided not to
go after the media mogul gave her some advice at the end of their
taped chat for Oprah's Next Chapter.
Speaking on the TODAY show, Winfrey says, "At the end of the
interview, I said to her, 'Look, I have some concerns 'cause I hear
you're going to Europe. And I just came from Europe, and Europe is
the place to go when you want to feel really good and relax. It's
very hard to go to Capri and not have a Bellini'.
"I was saying, if I were you I would think about it. So she texted
me and said, 'Yes, I will think about it. But, look, I've already
paid for it.' And then I just heard this morning she's decided not
to go. Isn't that good? That she's decided to stay here and work on
herself? I'm so proud of her for that decision."
Winfrey also revealed she hopes Lohan will let the public see her
struggle to rebuild her life during an upcoming fly-on-the-wall
reality TV show which she is filming for the TV titan's OWN
network.
She adds, "I'm anxious to see whether or not this young woman, who
is a really, really fine actress, will be able to allow us into her
life and let us see the trajectory of trying to put the pieces back
together."
Lohan has been in and out of jail and rehab in recent years, and
her latest stint in a clinic in California was ordered by the
courts after she pleaded no contest to charges stemming from a car
crash last summer (12).
Her interview with Winfrey will air on 18 August (13), and her
reality show is set for broadcast early next year (14).
