Lil Wayne named Songwriter of the Year
Rapper Lil Wayne was honored with the Songwriter of the Year prize at the Broadcast Music, Inc. R&B/Hip-Hop Awards on Friday (22Aug14).
Lil Wayne won the trophy at the music industry event which celebrates the songwriters, producers and publishers of the most-performed R&B/hip-hop songs of the previous year.
Rap duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis picked up an award for Song of the
Year for their track Can't Hold Us and teen star Zendaya received
the Social Star accolade for using social media to showcase her
music. Her category was voted by fans via Twitter.com.
Ludacris was honored with the coveted President's Award in
recognition of his achievements in songwriting over the past 16
years of his career. He also performed at the ceremony, which was
held at the Pantages Theater in Los Angeles.
