Liam Payne's representative denies engagement rumours

Liam Payne's representative has dismissed rumours suggesting the One Direction star is engaged to wed his longtime girlfriend.

The British singer's relationship with Sophia Smith became a gossip item on Twitter on Sunday (19Jul15) after fans began posting notes about the alleged engagement news, turning the hashtag "#SophiamIsEngaged" into a trending topic.

However, a spokesperson for the Story of My Life hitmaker, 21, has put a stop to the claims, telling GossipCop.com, "They are not engaged."

Payne and Smith have been dating on and off since 2013.

The false marriage speculation emerged days after news broke that Payne's bandmate Louis Tomlinson is set to become a first-time father. Los Angeles-based stylist Briana Jungwirth is pregnant with the 23 year old's baby.
