Liam Neeson's home picketed by animal rights activists

Actor Liam Neeson's New York home has been picketed by animal rights activists outraged by his support for the city's horse-drawn carriage attractions.

The Taken star is a longtime opponent of plans by Mayor Bill De Blasio to remove the popular tourist treat and replace the carriages with vintage cars, arguing the move will rob many of their livelihoods.

On Saturday (19Apr14), 50 People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals supporters gathered outside of the actor's home with signs and slogans like "Liam Neeson: Stop Supporting Cruelty!" and "Worked to Death!"

A statement from PETA Senior Vice President Dan Mathews to GossipCop.com reads: "Neeson and his carriage cronies - who are working with horse-slaughter proponents - are willfully misleading the public about the routine cruelty that horses in New York's carriage industry endure."

Neeson did not appear during the protest, and he has not commented on the situation.
