Leona Lewis song battle heading to court

Written by . Published: August 08 2011

Leona Lewis' representatives are heading to London's High Court to secure the right to release her new single following plagiarism accusations from a Swedish DJ.

Dance music producer Avicii alleges Lewis has used a sample from one of his songs in her latest track Collide without his permission. The DJ - real name Tim Bergling - has requested an injunction to stop the impending release of the single and his complaint will be heard in court on Monday (08Aug11).

If his request is upheld, it will halt the planned release of Collide on 4 September (11), according to Britain's The Guardian. Lewis has previously denied allegations of illegal sampling, insisting Avicii "was aware" of the usage and even agreed "publishing splits for himself and his manager".
