Leona Lewis scrapped party plans after Whitney Houston's death
Leona Lewis scrapped plans to attend Clive Davis' pre-Grammy Awards party this year (12) after hearing of Whitney Houston's death and instead stayed home crying and listening to the late singer's records.
Houston had been billed as a special guest for the party at the Beverly Hilton hotel in February (12), but she drowned in the bathtub of her suite there just hours before the bash was due to kick off.
Lewis admits she was devastated by the news and refused to attend
the party, which went ahead despite the dramatic scenes upstairs in
the hotel.
The British singer tells U.K. magazine Fabulous, "I didn't go. I
couldn't go. Whitney was such a huge inspiration to me, she was
such an artist, she had such a voice. I was completely devastated
when I heard the news. I just sat in my house, a few of my friends
came round and I played Whitney songs all night. It was so, so sad
about what happened to her."
