Lauren Jauregui apologizes to fans for missing concert
Fifth Harmony star Lauren Jauregui has apologized to her fans after missing a concert in Brazil hours after she was cited for drug possession at an airport in Virginia on Wednesday (14Dec16).
The singer was on her way to South America to perform at the Vevo Brasil Fun Pop Festival when customs officials at Dulles International Airport spotted a small bag of marijuana in her carry on luggage.
Initial reports suggested Lauren had been arrested, but her
attorney subsequently cleared up the claims, insisting she was not
taken into custody.
The 20-year-old has yet to comment on the reports, but she has
written a letter in Spanish to her fans about missing the show in
Brazil.
"My dear Brazilian harminizers, I'm sorry I can not see you all,"
the message on Twitter reads. "I did not get on the plane in time
and so I had to go to Atlanta. I promise that I will do everything
possible for you because I love each of you with all my heart. I'm
sorry I love you."
Lauren then posted a photo of her attorney's statement about the
citation, in which it was indicated she would not miss any future
engagements.
"(Lauren was) simply given a citation for possession of marijuana
and released on her own recognizance," read a statement issued to
TMZ.com on Wednesday morning. "This will not interfere with any
future scheduled performances or activities."
Her bandmates, Ally Brooke, Camila Cabello, Dinah Jane Hansen, and
Normani Kordei, hit the red carpet as a quartet and performed
without the troubled star.
Lauren will rejoin her bandmates onstage at the Power 96.1 Jingle
Ball in Atlanta, Georgia on Friday night (16Dec16).
