Lana Del Rey's Coachella trip inspires new tune
Singer Lana Del Rey has channeled her conflicting emotions about attending California's Coachella music festival while the world teeters on the edge of nuclear war into a new song.
The Summertime Sadness star took to Instagram to share her feelings in a lengthy post as she returned home from the three-day festival on Monday (17Apr17), admitting she was inspired to express herself in the form of a new track, which she debuted in an accompanying video, shot in the woods.
She captioned the clip, "I'm not gonna lie- I had complex feelings about spending the weekend dancing whilst watching tensions w (with) North Korea mount. I find It's a tightrope between being vigilantly observant of everything going on in the world and also having enough space and time to appreciate God's good earth the way it was intended to be appreciated."
"On my way home I found myself compelled to visit an old favorite place of mine at the rim of the world highway where I took a moment to sit down by the sequoia grove and write a little song," she continued. "I just wanted to share this in hopes that one individual's hope and prayer for peace might contribute to the possibility of it in the long run. Hope everyone has a nice day, with love from California".
Lana's concerns about world politics came after U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to take military action over recent weapons tests conducted by North Korean authorities under the leadership of Kim Jong-un.
On Monday evening, North Korea's deputy United Nations ambassador, Kim In-ryong, publicly warned Trump nuclear war could "break out at any moment" as a result of his "aggressive" approach to rising tensions.
