The Poker Face singer and songwriter Diane Warren shared the accolade for best song in a documentary for their co-written track Til It Happens to You from The Hunting Ground, a film about rape on college campuses.
Warren accepted the prize at the Los Angeles ceremony, saying, "I
usually lose stuff!.. I would like to dedicate this to the
survivors - I refuse to call them victims - of sexual abuse. This
is for you."
Rihanna won the best song in an animated film category for Dancing
in the Dark, from children's movie Home. She voiced a lead role in
the film and co-wrote and performed most of the soundtrack.
Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth won an award for their Furious 7 song
See You Again, a tribute to late actor Paul Walker, beating out
competition which included Sam Smith's James Bond theme Writing's
on the Wall.
The original scores for Beasts of No Nation and Mad Max: Fury Road
were also feted, as was the soundtrack album for Fifty Shades of
Grey.
