Kristin Chenoweth embarrassed after admiral mix-up at royal bash

Glee star Kristin Chenoweth was left red-faced after ordering a drink from a British Navy admiral at President Barack Obama's dinner hosted by Queen Elizabeth II.

The pint-sized musical star provided the entertainment at the dinner in London thrown by the British monarch for the president at the end of his U.K. visit in May (11).

After the performance, Kristin Chenoweth asked a man in a red jacket for a drink, only to realise he was a high-ranking military official and not a royal footman.

She tells CNN's Piers Morgan Tonight, "I was singing for the queen, the Queen of England. I was there, maybe two months ago, when Obama was there, and I did a 20-minute concert for her.

"At the palace... the waiters all have red jackets and a man came up to me and I thought he said something about maybe getting a drink and I said, 'A glass of champagne would be amazing,' and he said, 'I'm admiral so-and-so.' Not just admiral, he's the head of the entire British military. Then I said, 'I'm so sorry.' And he was so wonderful about it."
