Kristen Stewart stars in sultry Chanel campaign
Kristen Stewart is the face of a sexy new Chanel campaign shot by designer Karl Lagerfeld.
For Chanel's Paris in Rome Metiers d'Art collection, brand creative director Lagerfeld depicts Kristen as an Italian movie star, getting her to pose in a black mini-dress with one shoulder exposed, her toned legs visible through lacy tights and her hair tousled.
The adverts, which are set to debut in magazines in June (16), mark
the latest collaboration between the actress and the German
couturier, with the 25-year-old describing Lagerfeld as a pleasure
to work with on the photoshoot.
“Karl never turns me into something I’m not," she told WWD. "But
like all good directors, he is capable of bringing qualities out of
people that are sometimes not as obvious to them.”
Kristen added that Lagerfeld provides an environment for a story to
unfold and ranked the new campaign as one of her best yet,
describing it as "so complete and transportive".
The affection is mutual, with Lagerfeld championing the On the Road
star as a natural fit for the French fashion house.
“She is a real personality. I don’t compare her to any other
actress and she is really modern, whatever that means,” he
explained. “And I think that she is perfect for the Chanel image of
today."
For the shoot, Lagerfeld was inspired by Yvonne Furneaux, a French
actress who appeared in Federico Fellini’s 1960 classic, La Dolce
Vita.
Lagerfeld and Twilight actress Kristen have collaborated several
times together, including when he cast her as a young Gabrielle
“Coco” Chanel for a short film which he screened with the unveiling
of the Metiers d'Art collection in December last year (15).
Kristen, who will next be seen in Woody Allen’s Cafe Society, set
to be screened at the Cannes Film Festival next month (May16), has
also appeared in Chanel campaigns for eyewear, the 11.12 handbag
collection and an eye make-up line.
