Kristen Bell eyeing new record for Veronica Mars fundraiser

New mother Kristen Bell is rallying her fans to break a new record with the Veronica Mars online fundraising campaign, just days after it reached $4 million in donations.

The actress and show creator Rob Thomas launched a $2 million Kickstarter.com campaign on 13 March (13) in a bid to raise enough cash within 30 days to finance the film.

The target was reached less than 24 hours after the project kicked off, and now Bell and Thomas are eyeing a new world record for their initiative - to land the most backers for any drive on the site.

The fundraiser has already been backed by more than 67,000 fans, but the actress, who gave birth to a baby girl on Thursday (28Mar13), wants it to smash the 87,000 record.

In a post on her Twitter.com page, she writes, "the record is 87k- we are already above 67! we can do this in 9 days! i (sic) think we can!"

On the fundraising site, Thomas adds, "We are in the home stretch now... and here's the new situation: our not-so-secret ambition is to have more backers than any Kickstarter drive in history. You guys are the best. Keep it up. Our love is epic."
