Kim Richards offered no-jail plea deal over drunken arrest
Former child star-turned-reality TV regular Kim Richards has been offered a plea deal which would keep her out of jail following a public intoxication arrest earlier this year (15).
Paris Hilton's aunt was taken into custody at the Beverly Hills Hotel in April (15), when she was accused of causing a disturbance. She was asked to leave the premises, but while being escorted from the hotel, Richards requested to use the bathroom and then refused to leave, according to local police.
Last month (May15), she was slapped with three misdemeanors for
public intoxication, resisting arrest, and battery upon a peace
officer - charges which could land her up to two-and-a-half years
in jail, if convicted.
The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star, who is currently in
rehab, was not in court for her arraignment hearing on Thursday
(11Jun15), but her lawyer entered a not guilty plea on her
behalf.
Prosecutors also revealed they had offered Richards a plea deal,
which would see her serve three years probation, complete 52
Alcoholics Anonymous classes and pay restitution to the victim. She
would also be ordered to stay away from the Beverly Hills Hotel and
perform either 30 days of community labor or spend 30 days in a
county jail, according to TMZ.com.
Richards, who has a history of substance abuse issues, checked
herself into a rehab facility shortly after her arrest. She took a
break from treatment to attend her daughter Brooke's nuptials in
Cabo, Mexico in late May (15), but resumed her program upon her
return.
She previously attempted to get sober during a rehab visit in
2011.
