Kim Kardashian pays tribute to ex's late teammate
Kim Kardashian paid tribute to her ex-boyfriend Reggie Bush's former New Orleans Saints teammate Will Smith, who was fatally shot after a car crash on Saturday (09Apr16).
Former footballer Smith, 34, was behind the wheel of his Mercedes SUV when he was rear-ended by a Hummer, causing the athlete to crash into the vehicle in front of him, which contained a few acquaintances of Smith, according to New Orleans police.
The driver of the Hummer, identified as 28-year-old Cardell Hayes,
engaged in a heated conversation with Smith, before shooting him
several times. Smith was pronounced dead at the scene, while his
wife Racquel, 33, was shot once in the right leg and taken to a
nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
After news of the incident hit headlines on Sunday (10Apr16),
Kardashian took to Instagram.com to share her condolences, posting
a photo of herself alongside Racquel, writing the caption, "My
heart breaks for my sweet friend Rockie. I’m deeply saddened by
your loss. Will, you were an angel to your family on earth and you
will continue to be in the life after. May God bless you! Sending
so many prayers to her and her family!!! May the Lord surround her
and her children with love and protection during this devastating
time."
Kim dated Smith's teammate Bush from 2007 to 2010, while he played
on the New Orleans Saints with Smith. Bush also took to Instagram
to pay tribute to his friend, posting a photo of him, Smith and two
teammates following their Super Bowl win in 2010.
He wrote, "RIP Will Smith may the lord have mercy on your soul at
the gates of heaven you were a great man and did so much good for
so many people in New Orleans. You will be greatly missed! We love
you and your family and thank you for your time!"
Kim married rapper Kanye West in May, 2014, while Bush tied the
knot with dancer Lilit Avagyan in July that year.
Meanwhile, Hayes was arrested on charges of second-degree murder
and is still behind bars with a bond set at $1 million.
