Kevin Jonas suffered from depression following band split
Pop star Kevin Jonas suffered from depression following the break-up of his sibling band the Jonas Brothers.
Jonas and his younger brothers Joe and Nick ended their music careers as a trio in 2013, and in a new interview, he admits he didn't take the split well.
Jonas tells New York City's Z100 radio show, "Notice how when the
Jonas Brothers went dark, we went dark. We didn't do a single
interview, we didn't talk to anybody, we just went dark. I just got
really depressed for a while. There's a mourning process."
The singer also suggests Zayn Malik, who recently departed from One
Direction, should do the same and remove himself from the celebrity
lifestyle for a while.
Jonas says, "In the midst of that intensity, he should go dark for
a long time. You gotta go dark for at least six weeks! Like,
underground, you gotta go hard, like you're done... You have to let
the dust clear. Anything you do then will be scrutinised."
Jonas, who has since welcomed a daughter with wife Danielle,
confesses he misses going out on the road and playing for fans, but
dismisses reports he is envious of youngest sibling Nick, who has
found his own success as a solo artist thanks to his hit song
Jealous.
Kevin says, "I don't know how many times I literally hear this.
It's the worst pun in the world from some idiotic frat guy. It's
like, 'You must be 'Jealous' of Nick!'... Constantly! It's like,
why? He's doing his thing. I'm doing mine! He's happy. I'm
happy."
