Kevin Hart has launched a new scholarship program to support underprivileged students.

The actor and comedian is one of the most sought-after names in Hollywood, and is now giving back by using his status to promote philanthropic causes. To mark him running the New York City Marathon next month (Nov17), he has set up a YouCaring page to raise funds for his Help From the Hart Scholarship Program, and kicked off the concept by donating $50,000 .

"To celebrate my first New York Marathon challenge on November 5, 2017 and to support education, I will be donating $50,000.00 to the Help From the Hart Charity for the Help From the Hart Scholarship Program," he said in a statement. "I am very dedicated to helping our youth gain access to great education opportunities and with your support and generosity from the heart, I am confident that together, you can help me reach my goal of raising $300,000 to help youth from across the country achieve their education goals!"

The Help From the Hart Scholarship Program has been designed to support deserving students from under-served populations by providing them with assistance and access to educational opportunities that they otherwise would not have the financial means to fulfill their educational goals. While Kevin is aware that not all people can give large sums of money, he is adamant that every dollar counts.

"Give any amount that you can! Give because you care! But most important, give from the heart because every child deserves access to a great education," he added.

Even though Kevin's wife Eniko Parrish is due to give birth to their first child together shortly, the star, who also has two children from his marriage to Torrei Hart, has been keeping up with his marathon training, and regularly updates fans on social media with details about his runs and exercise regimes in the lead-up to the race.
