Kerry Washington wears Jessica Alba’s maternity clothes

Kerry Washington borrows Jessica Alba’s "cute" maternity clothes.

The Scandal star confirmed her pregnancy in May (16), when she debuted her growing baby bump on the red carpet at the Met Gala. Kerry and her husband, former San Francisco 49ers cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, are already parents to two-year-old daughter Isabelle.

Though the 39-year-old has struggled to find desirable maternity clothes in the past, she reveals that the hunt has become a lot easier thanks to her friend and fellow actress Jessica.

“She told me she had this box of maternity clothes that she would ship from girlfriend to girlfriend. I was like, ‘Can I have it?’” Kerry told InStyle magazine. “And then I started doing it as well. I'm not getting clothes back that I wore the first time.”

Not only does sharing clothes mean more options when it comes to pregnancy style, but Kerry feels that it means she and her friends definitely get their money’s worth when shopping for garments they will only be wearing for a short amount of time.

“Everybody adds cute stuff to the box. You're less afraid to spend money because you feel that a lot of people are going to use it,” she explained.

As Kerry is in the middle of filming the sixth season of her hit ABC drama, she also admits that finding outfits which accommodate her growing belly present a challenge - particularly as her character Olivia Pope is known for wearing fitted pantsuits. Thankfully, the Scandal wardrobe team has come up with an ingenious solution for adapting designer garments to her blossoming frame.

"There's nothing high-end for professional women who are pregnant," she sighed. “So for the show, we wind up just buying the same clothes. We will cut out the front of Armani trousers and put in a pregnancy panel. That's what we do for everything."
