Kelly Rowland honoured at Black Women in Music event

Kelly Rowland has been honoured for her contributions to the music industry at the Essence Black Women in Music event in Los Angeles.


The singer was the guest of honour at Wednesday night's (08Feb12) ceremony, where she was presented with a platinum plaque for the success of her Grammy-nominated chart hit Motivation and her achievements over the past 12 months.


Industry veteran Sylvia Rhone, the former president of Universal Motown Records, was also feted for her work overseeing recent releases by the likes of Nicki Minaj, Drake, Akon and Stevie Wonder.


Rowland was joined at the event by her former Destiny's Child bandmates Michelle Williams and LaToya Luckett, while singer Ne-Yo and rapper/actress Eve were also in attendance at the pre-Grammy celebration.
