Kelly Clarkson turns daughter's travel tales into children's book
Kelly Clarkson has become the latest celebrity children's book author.
The Since U Been Gone singer has written River Rose and the Magical Lullaby, which is inspired by her travels with 19-month-old daughter River Rose.
Announcing the news on Tuesday (09Feb16), the pop star tweeted:
"I’m officially a children’s book author! River Rose and the
Magical Lullaby comes out this October!"
Pregnant Kelly also posted a video online, explaining the concept
behind the book, which features adorable illustrations by Laura
Hughes.
"It's always kind of a cool thing to be on a plane with my daughter
when we're going on trips to the U.K. and Asia and Australia - all
these amazing places that she was too little to remember," Kelly
added.
"I started writing down these little fun stories, like when she
went to Australia and got to hang out with some kangaroos... These
little stories ended up turning into a book.
"I guess my hope is for little kids to read River Rose and the
Magical Lullaby and be inspired by it and know they can achieve
anything."
The promo video also features the singer's daughter, who mum
insists is a real handful.
"She's always sleeping on the job... and she's eating all the
time," Kelly joked over footage of her toddler, "and she's such a
micro-manager. I don't know where she gets it from."
Kelly's second child with her husband Brandon Blackstock is due
this spring (16), prompting the star to miss the Grammy Awards.
She recently told a Texas radio station, "I was going to do the
Grammys... but I just have such hard pregnancies, flying back and
forth to L.A... I’m unfortunately going to have to miss the
Grammys, because my doctor was like ‘Yeah, that’s not too smart for
you...' I was pretty bummed I’m gonna miss the Grammys this
year."
