Kelly Clarkson marks 14 years since American Idol win
Kelly Clarkson will be "forever grateful" to American Idol for opening so many doors for her.
The singer was crowned the first ever champion of American Idol back in 2002 when she beat runner-up Justin Guarini in the finale.
Sunday (04Sep16) marked 14 years since that historic day, and Kelly
took to her Twitter page to express her gratitude.
"14 yrs (sic) ago 2day @AmericanIdol opened a door w/such amazing
opportunities & experiences 4 me!" she wrote. "I am 4ever (sic)
grateful & blessed! #heresto14more."
Since winning Idol, Kelly has sold 25 million albums and 36 million
singles globally and has had more than 100 number one hits
(counting all national, domestic music charts current, recurrent
and catalog) on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, with A Moment Like
This, My Life Would Suck Without You and Stronger (What Doesn't
Kill You) among fan favourites.
She has also taken home three Grammy awards and released her
seventh studio album Piece by Piece last year (15). These accolades
have made her the most successful American Idol contestant to
date.
Kelly's personal life has also changed dramatically in the last 14
years. She is now a mother of two young children with husband
Brandon Blackstock - two-year-old River and four-month-old
Remington - as well as being stepmother to his two children from a
previous relationship.
Further offspring are unlikely though, as Kelly revealed during an
interview back in March (16) that being a family of six was more
than enough.
"Oh, no, we are done," the pop star told Australia's KIIS FM radio
station. "Oh good Lord, yes, I can't be pregnant again. This will
be our number four total, so we're good... Honestly, the first one
was really rough, and I was like, 'Oh, it can't happen again,' and
no, it happened, like, way worse this time."
Kelly previously revealed she suffered from hyperemesis gravidarum,
a condition which results in severe nausea, vomiting, weight loss
and dehydration.
