Kellie Pickler lands reality show
Country star Kellie Pickler has landed her own reality TV show on the CMT network.
The Red High Heels singer made the announcement during the network's annual upfront media presentation on Thursday (02Apr15), but she admitted the 10-episode pickup was surprising since she only presented network bosses with a short montage of clips and doesn't even have a title for the series.
She tells Rolling Stone Country, "We're in the creative process
right now. We did a little sizzle reel, and when we went to pitch
the sizzle reel, we were just so lucky to go forward. We didn't
think we would go straight to series without a pilot."
The new project marks Pickler's return to the small screen after
finding fame on the fourth season of TV talent show American Idol
in 2006, and winning ballroom contest Dancing with the Stars in
2013.
Pickler is even teaming up with Idol host Ryan Seacrest, who also
produces Keeping Up with the Kardashians, and she insists the
collaboration was destined to be the right fit.
She says, "I've been offered reality shows since Idol. With Ryan it
just felt right. We've been talking about it for years, and just
have never made it a priority."
Pickler's unscripted series, tentatively titled I Love Kellie
Pickler, is slated to premiere this fall (15).
