Keira Knightley suffers stage fright on movie sets

Keira Knightley used her stint in theatre to tackle her crippling stage fright because it was beginning to affect her performance on movie sets.

The British actress made her stage debut in a London production of The Misanthrope in 2009, and despite a slew of bad reviews, she returned to the West End last year (11) to take on a role in 1934 play The Children's Hour.

Knightley now reveals she had been suffering attacks of nerves while shooting movies and she decided to confront her fears by stepping out on stage in front of a live audience.

She tells Britain's Daily Mail, "(I discovered) that a lot of what I was suffering from on film sets was stage fright... It's easier for me now (after having done theatre), and even if I do freeze, I know how to deal with it."
