Ke$Ha and Justin Bieber have been nominated for an award by officials at People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA).

The TiK ToK hitmaker and Bieber are both in the running for the Most Animal-Friendly Pop/Hip-Hop Artist title at the Libby Awards, which honour stars who help raise awareness of the cruel treatment of animals, and is run by the organisation's youth division peta2.

The singers will battle for the award against rappers k-os and Waka Flocka Flame, while Ke$ha is also named in the Best peta2 advert category.

After learning about her nominations, the singer took to Twitter.com to write, "I'm up for two Peta awards! This is so important to me - I love all ANIMALS!! thanks peta."

Other stars up for prizes include Glee actress Lea Michele, who has rallied against the use of carriage horses in New York and is up for the Top Animal-Friendly Celebrity award.

Michele faces competition from Jackass star Steve-O, Cobra Starship's Gabe Saporta and actress Daniella Monet.

The winners will be announced on 17 January (12).
