Katy Perry stoked for Seth Rogen's Sausage Party
Katy Perry is willing to camp outside of a theater to see Seth Rogen's upcoming R-rated animated film Sausage Party.
The Pineapple Express star recently released the red-band trailer for latest project, which takes place in a grocery store with raunchy talking foods. The preview has already raked in more than two million views, and the pop star is one of the many people eager to view the feature, which doesn't hit cinemas until August (16).
Katy took to Twitter on Wednesday (16Mar16) and shared the link to
the movie's teaser, adding: "Omg. I will camp overnight in line
like a kid at a (popular clothing store) Supreme store to see
this."
Seth took note of the Roar singer's excitement and wrote back,
"@katyperry I think we can proooooooobably organize a screening for
you."
Hype for the film started at Austin, Texas' South By Southwest
festival on Monday (14Mar16), when Seth and his producing partners
screened a rough cut of the movie for the first time.
Luckily, the work-in-progress received rave reviews by viewers in
the audience and critics alike, which was a relief to Seth, who
told the crowd in a post-screening question and answer session that
the film took eight years to make since studio bosses were nervous
about producing in the project.
Seth was eager to take a chance at making an adult animated film
that had never been done before and he was thrilled when top
Hollywood producer Megan Ellison, who counts Zero Dark Thirty and
American Hustle as some of her biggest pictures, came on board.
"We would look at what animated movies did," Seth said. "People
project emotions on things around them - onto their toys, onto
their cars, onto their pets. That's what Pixar has done for the
last 20 years. We thought what would it be like if our food had
feelings. We very quickly realized that would be f**ked up, because
we eat it."
Sausage Party features voices from Seth, Salma Hayek, Edward
Norton, James Franco, Kristen Wiig, Paul Rudd, and Bill Hader,
among others and famed Disney composer Alan Menken is slated to
create the score.
