Katy Perry slams reporter for reusing old interview
Katy Perry has slammed an Australian reporter for allegedly rehashing three-year-old quotes about her ex-husband Russell Brand for a new article published last week (ends24May15).
The Roar hitmaker split from the British funnyman in 2011 after just 14 months of marriage, and her heartbreak was captured on camera for her big screen documentary Katy Perry: Part of Me, which was released in 2012.
Perry appeared to revisit the marriage breakdown in an interview
with writer Chris Knowles for Australia's Sydney Daily Telegraph
newspaper on Saturday (23May15), when the pop star allegedly
revealed she has not had any contact with Brand since he texted to
tell her he was filing for divorce.
In the piece, she is quoted as saying, "He hasn't spoken to me
since he texted me saying he was filing for divorce. I don't want
to talk about him - my songs will say what I need to say."
Perry has since taken notice of the article and took to Twitter.com
on Monday (25May15) to fire back at Knowles for reportedly
reprinting an interview from 2012 while she was promoting her Part
of Me movie.
She tweets, "It's really inappropriate when journalists repurpose
interviews done 3 yrs (years) ago in context of promoting a film &
then stamp a new date on it. The Daily Telegraph & Chris Knowles".
The star ends the message with a thumbs down emoji.
Perry previously spoke of her text message split from Brand in a
2013 interview with Vogue magazine, saying, "He's a very smart man,
and I was in love with him when I married him. Let's just say I
haven't heard from him since he texted me saying he was divorcing
me December 31, 2011."
